A different sort of competition.  4/11/2011

Every day you see something in passing that grabs your attention. Not because it’s beautiful. Not because it’s amazing. But because it’s just not quite right.
It might not be your colour. It might be the pattern that catches your eye and makes you feel strangely off-centre. It may be that you just can’t stand that particular style.
Those sorts of things can happen here at Nappies Covered too. In fact, we have some fabrics here that meet those categories for some of our shoppers.

This competition is all about making the very best out of what life hands you - in this case, what you can make with fabric that really doesn’t quite cut it, in your eyes.

Firstly - we have a (non published) list here of our 7 bottom selling cotton PUL fabrics,  yes those most un-popular prints!

You need to guess which of the cotton fabrics in our store might fall into this category, which fabrics might be on that list?

You only have one chance to pick the 7 fabrics, so choose carefully! You can see all the fabrics to choose from here - cotton PUL print fabrics

Once you’ve made your choice,  list them and pop them in a comment on this blog post with your selections.

Those who guess a fabric from our bottom most un-popular  7 prints go onto a list for that fabric choice.  On Saturday 12/11/2011  we will draw two lucky people per fabric using random.org.  Each of these 14 lucky people get a cut of that fabric and a cut of matching inner fabric posted to them - all free of charge.

This is where your creativity comes in!

Once you have the fabric in your hot little hands, you have a week to overcome your objections to the print ( LOL) and then another week to create something absolutely amazing out of it!
It doesn’t have to be a nappy, either!

Pictures of your final creation need to be emailed back to us by 2/12/2011 so we can pop the photos in a blog post.  These are then commented on by your voters (friends, family, random strangers.... etc) and on the 15th of December the creations with the most comments will win and be announced :)

I’m confused? How does it work?

It’s really easy. Go to www.nappiescovered.com.au, check out the cotton PUL fabrics, and decide on 7 (seven) that you find seriously unattractive. Post a comment on this blog post, with the name of  your 7 most un-popular fabrics in it. You can only enter ONCE - so choose carefully.

 

 

But - how do I win?

If you have chosen one of the fabrics on our list your name will go into a draw with the other's who have also happened upon that fabric choice. At the end of the week (see dates below), we will select two winners for each of the 7 fabrics, using random.org.

 

 

If I’m selected, what do I do next?

If you enter the competition, you need to check back on the 12th of November to see if you have been selected, then email Jodie from the following link - email jodie my contact details -  with your full name and postal details so we can send out your fabric. If we do not hear back from you by 9am CST, 14th of November, we will draw another person to receive the fabric. (this needs to be done due to the limited time frame available and to allow the most possible entries into the final part of the competition).

 

If I’m selected, do I have to sew something to win the big prize?

Yes, you do. You need to create something out of the fabric we send you. Although we love origami cranes here, the second part of this competition is a sewing part. You do not have to sew a nappy, but you do have to sew something! Remember, this part is judged by your fellow consumers, it is not a random drawing.
If you don’t think you can commit to making something with the fabric we send out, please don’t enter the competition.

 

What happens if I don’t get the sewing finished in time?

You have 2 weeks to finish your item. If it’s not finished, we still need the pictures.  It’s entirely up to you to make your product the best it can be and a fiished item has a much better chance of winning :)

 

Do I have to pay for anything to enter?

Entry to the competition is free. The two fabric cuts ( 1 x PUL 1 x inner fabric) we send the selected winners are free. Postage of those cuts is free. Anything else you might need to complete your project (such as sewing threads, elastic, accessories) need to be supplied by yourself, or you can buy them from us!

 

What happens to the item I make?

The item you make is yours to keep. All we need are photos of it - and if you like, a little descriptive blurb to add to the blog post about it.

 

 

How does the voting work?

The voting on the final projects will be counted through comments on your individual item’s blog post, here on this blog.  We will only count ONE vote (comment) per individual voter, per blog post. Commenting 10 times on the item you really, really love will still only count as one vote. This makes the competition fair for everyone!

 

 

The Rules - Terms and Conditions

Non-compliance to the terms and conditions will void your entry.

• You are required to post a comment on this blog post - www.nappiescovered.com.au/blog - as your entry, this forms part of your original entry.
• There will be 14 seperate winners of the first fabric prize.
• There will be 3 seperate winners of the final 'made up goods' prize.
• Only one entry is allowed per person on the first fabric 7 fabric guess.
• Final prize is store credit at Nappies Covered under your store account - prize is not redemable for cash, prize is not transferable.
• If no store account is active you will be required to register an account to receive your final prize if selected as a final prize winner.
• Original Fabric winners will received 1 x cut of cotton PUL fabric and 1 x cut matching inner wicking fabric.
• Accessories, notions, threads etc are not included in the prize - these need to be supplied by the winner for their project.
• Nappies Covered reserves the right to cancel any entry that does not comply to terms and conditions.
• Original fabric winners  can create/sew what ever they want, it does not need to be a nappy.
• Fabric choice is limited to the list of 7 cotton PUL fabrics selected by Nappies Covered.
• Times and dates will be strictly adhered to, this ensures smooth running of the competition.
• Final winners announced 15th December 2011 on our Nappies Covered blog, with links from facebook and the Nappies Covered website.
• Original fabric winners names will be drawn ramdomly (using random.org)  for the prize draws, and the judges decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
• Final 'made product' winners will be chosen based on amount of comment posts received on each entry.
• Only one comment per person is allowed on any final 'made up' entry.  Mutiple comments by a single person will be removed and not counted towards the total.
• If for any reason, as a fabric prize winner, you cannot continue with your entry please let us know.
• Winners of fabric, we are relying on your honesty in entering this competition, so please only enter if you can follow through with the full competition.

Hitting 2000 'likers' on FaceBook - 24/05/2011

We'll help you then!

Due to hitting 2000 'likers' on our Nappies Covered Face Book page it's give away time!

Due to the likelyhood that many of our new 'likers' are new to Modern Cloth Nappies and sewing nappies themselves, we 'd like to give away 10 'Try It Out' nappy kits!

These kits contain - standard PUL, suedecloth, hook & loop and swimwear elastic, we'll even throw in a copy of the Wee Weka pattern to save you having to print it out yourself :)  All that you need to make a pocket nappy or cover.  No absorbent material is included but don't let that stop you!

All you need to do is comment on our blog that you'd love to try and make your own nappy and why and if you'd prefer a boy/girl or unisex kit.

 

Hitting 8000 orders!

I can't beleive that soon we will be hitting 8000 orders since the day we opened. Nappies Covered has grown so much and all thanks to you, my wonderful customers :)

Wow how exciting and what better way than to do a give away when we hit it! We are at order #7777 as I write this (Sunday the 27th of Feb 2011).

Keep your eyes on this page for the update of what is to come.

It is now the 23rd of March and we are 33 orders away from the big 8000th order.

• The person who places the 8000th order will recieve a $100 Nappies Covered store credit.

• Order needs to be paid in full for prize to be validated.  If order is not paid in full within 7 days prize will be forfieted.

• Prize of store credit can not be used to pay existing order.
• Adding to existing order does not count as a new order (even if number is 8000) and will not be counted.
• Adding mutiple orders one after the other to try and get to 8000 will render your entry invalid.

Winner has been announced :)  The 8000th order came through just after midnight on the 24th of March 2011.  Congratulations to Abby :)

This month sees us heading off on a small scavenger hunt around our web site.

There are three items you need to find.  Once you have found these three items, come back to this page and fill in the reply form at the bottom - list those three items by name and you are entered into the draw :)

I am going to make it nice and easy with some wonderful clues. Below are the items you need to look for with their clues.

• Item 1 - What most people need in the morning. ANSWER : COFFEE
  
• Item 2 - Something for a sweet tooth.  ANSWER : CAKE
  
• Item 3 - You can put your foot in it.  ANSWER : SHOE
  

Not only will I give you clues but will let you know that you can use the search feature on our website to search for words that you may think are correct....helps narrow down your search!

What do you need to do?

1. Outer fabric (PUL) PLEASE POST A PHOTO OF THIS ONE ONLY.

As you find the fabric that you love -  

you need to post the pictures of the outer fabric only to our fan page. 

This may require you to save the images to your desktop then upload it to the fan page.

If you win - we will select matching inner fabric and the FOE (fold over elastic)
